Ironman 70.3 Durban on 6 June was my second triathlon event of this year.
The first was the Ultra X - 3.5km swim, 6km run, 150km bike and 17km trail run - in April. A different format event for me and a tough, long one too. It took place in another beautiful part of South Africa, the central Drakensberg.
I continue fundraising efforts for the Ironman4TheKidz charity. Next on the cards for me is Ironman 70.3 South Africa on 5 September and the African Championships on November. Here's hoping restrictions relating to Covid-19 are eased up by then.
Ultra Joburg in December 2020 was a welcome relief from nearly a year of no competing.
My last Ironman event was the 70.3 South Africa held in East London, South Africa, in January 2020.
In 2019 I completed the Standard Bank Ironman 70.3 South Africa triathlon, my first full Ironman, Standard Bank Ironman 70.3 Durban (earning me the Ironman South Africa Tour Series medal) and the Ultra Joburg half distance, for which I collected third in the Triathlon South Africa long-distance championships).
Combined, I helped contribute nearly ZAR48,000 to the Ironman4TheKidz charity over the Ironman-branded events.
You motivate me to reach my goals.
